On The Road The Movie
On The Road Trailer
On The Road is a film adaptation of the Jack Kerouac cult classic novel of the same name. It's a French-UK-US co production directed by Walter Salles and starring Sam Riley as Sal Paradise and Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty. Its Executive Producer is Francis Ford Cappola.
This is Kristen's first film since completing her commitments on the final Twilight Movie 'Breaking Dawn Part 2'. Earlier this year, On The Road was brought to Canne Film Festival, where it received a mixture of reviews, however the majority of them were extremely positive. Here is a brief summary I managed to find. Gotta tell you hard to find.
On The Road tells the provocative story of Sal Paradise, a young writer whose life is shaken and ultimately redefined by the arrival of Dean Moriarty, a free spirited, fearless, fast talking Westener, and his girl Mary Lou.
Together Sal and Dean travel across country in a quest for freedom from the conformity and conservatism engulfing them, in search of the unknown themselves, and in pursuit of "it" - the pure essence of experience. Seeking uncharted terrain and the last American frontier the duo encounter an eclectic mix of men and women. Bull, Camille, Carlo, Jane, Terry and Galatea, each adding meaning to their desire for a new way of life.
As a Kristen Stewart fanatic, having followed her career throughout the Twilight Saga, the role of Mary Lou is the polar opposite of Bella. If there was any doubt that Kristen wouldn't be able to shake off the Twilight tag 'On The Road' most definitely proves a lot of the critics wrong. Just as Rob said at this year's Comic Con, Kristen is one of those actresses that can audition for any role and be absolutely perfect for it.
On The Road At Cannes Film Festival
Cannes Film Festival is one of the most prestigious events in an actor's career. To reveal the movie that you've put every part of yourself into. This was the first time that Kristen would be appearing at Cannes for her role as Mary Lou in 'On The Road'.
Usually one to shy away from public attention, Kristen openly admitted that she thought the reason why she wasn't nervous was because of who she would have standing next to her. It doesn't take a genius to know that the someone she's referring to is Rob. As she walked the red carpet with her 'On The Road' colleagues, Rob was present in the crowd looking proud of his beloved.
This movie is perfect for Kristen, the sheer enjoyment she had whilst filming shines through as she smiled for the cameras. It's a movie she's incredibly proud of and so she should be. 'On The Road' shows Kristen breaking away from the 'Twilight' tag, sometimes it's forgotten that Kristen was just 17 when she first started filming the Saga. Like reported above, 'On The Road' received mixed yet positive reviews. Reviewers are one thing but the reviewers that count are the fans who gather in huge ticket lines to ensure they get the best seats to view this movie, not to mention the thousands of fans who camp outside just so they manage to get tickets to the films exclusive premiere,
